Fourth Sunday of Advent ‘b’

Lk 1:26-38

Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.May it be done to me according to your word.” She had a choice; she could have said NO. Instead, she said YES and fulfilled God’s will. Because of Mary’s YES, this world received God. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Mary would have said NO. Would God put more pressure on her, would he ask somebody else instead? We don’t know that; all we know is what happened -- Mary agreed to God’s plan and gave us the Son of God. God wants you and me to bring Him into this world. No, we can’t become like Mary, she had a special mission. But just like Mary we are called to make known Jesus’ presence to the world around us, by the way we live, we speak, we treat each other.
