Friday of the Fourth Week of Lent ‘a’

Aren’t we just like those people from the Gospel reading today who could not believe that Jesus is just like one of them, a simple man, who was born like we are, who looked very ordinary, ate and drank and had a normal family? And so, they said: “We know where he is from. When the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from.” We too tend to believe at times that we know where Jesus can be found -- in the church, in the blessed sacrament, in the Holy Eucharist, in the scriptures, in those majestic basilicas and cathedrals around the world. And all this is true, Jesus is truly present there. But if we look for Christ only in our temples, we may miss His presence in our brothers and sister, in our neighbor, in the poor, even in the person that you may not like. Christ is extraordinary -- He is God. However, He can be found in very ordinary people, places, and situations.
