Friday of the Second Week of Advent ‘c’

Jesus asked the crowds: “To what shall I compare this generation? It is like children who sit in marketplaces and call to one another, 'We played the flute for you, but you did not dance,we sang a dirge but you did not mourn.' For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they said, 'He is possessed by a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking and they said, 'Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’” It is hard to please people. John the Baptist couldn’t satisfy all his listeners, and even Jesus couldn’t please everyone. So, what can we say about those people, to what can we compare them, Jesus asked. And how about you today? What can Jesus say about you? Are you a humble and honest person? Are you joyful and thankful for what you have, especially for the gift of faith. Or is it  difficult to satisfy you and make you happy? “To what shall I compare this generation?”
