Jesus said: “Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” I think we often forget about the fact that God is merciful not revengeful and punishing. That’s why we often would rather avoid some sin, because we are afraid that we will be punished for it by God. Nothing could be more mistaken. We should avoid occasions to sin, not from fear but for love for our God. And God loves us so much that even when we offend Him by sinning and by our disobedience, He will always forgive us. As Jesus said: “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.” We all need Jesus’ healing touch.
