Better be safe than sorry! There is some truth in this saying. There are beautiful and sunny days, but I would see a parishioner carrying an umbrella. So, I would tease her or him -- you don’t need that umbrella, look how sunny it is. But then I hear back -- better be safe than sorry. Or maybe when you travel, you pack more clothes than you may need, or you take some extra cash because you know that it is better to have more instead of not having enough. Even when I prepare for the Holy Mass, I like to consecrate more than enough hosts so I don’t have to worry about not having enough Eucharist for everybody in the church -- better be safe than sorry. The parable in the Gospel today also reminds us that it’s better to be safe than sorry. Because one day we will stand before the judgment seat of God and then He will ask us -- how much good have you done during your lifetime? And then you might wonder that day: will I go to Heaven, did I do enough to be saved? Well, enough might not be enough, do more. Better to have extra, than not enough, because it is better to be safe than sorry!
