Friday of the Twenty Ninth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

There were two sisters that long ago had an argument about something and stopped talking to each other. Both of them were stubborn and neither of them was able to say, ‘I am sorry’ and move on. Tragically one of the sisters died in an accident and the other sister could not forgive herself that she didn’t talk to her. She was devastated not by the death of her relative, but by the fact that she did not reach out to her when she was still alive. We all are given this time which we have by God to use in the best way possible. We know that one day our journey here will end. We don’t know when that will be, but let us use this time in a way that one day we can stand in front of God with confidence that we have lived our lives as He wanted us to live. Jesus reminds us today: “If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate, make an effort to settle the matter on the way; otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the constable, and the constable throw you into prison.”
