Monday in the Octave of Easter ‘b’

“Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce the news to his disciples.” Both women were overjoyed seeing the risen Christ, so they couldn’t keep that joy only to themselves. They wanted to share it with others. Why? Because only when we share the joy of the good news will our joy grow, become deeper. It is so nice to see others being joyful, smiling, being happy. There are many moments in our lives when we are just like those women overjoyed with something wonderful -- an engagement for example, or a pregnancy, or a birth of a child, or maybe a new job position or graduation. In moments like those, we don’t want to be alone. We don’t want to celebrate without other people, especially without those we love. Do you remember how hard it was to be separated from each other during the pandemic? Joy must be shared! Yesterday we celebrated Easter. Some may think that this holy day is over, now a time to prepare for other celebrations. However, we can’t end up like this. We must rejoice in the fact that Christ is risen, and we will rise too. There is no more death, there is resurrection. Let us share this joy with others, let that joy grow and give hope to other people.
