Monday of the Fourth Week of Lent ‘c’

Writer: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

Here is a question: when you pray asking God for something, do you, at the same time, have trust that God will make sure that everything will be OK? Do you have that peace of mind and comfort that God will take care of you in the best way possible? I think these are very important questions because many times we repeat the same prayers, not even focusing on what we are saying, and when we finish praying, we don’t really believe that God will listen to us and answer us. And no, God doesn’t always give us exactly what we are asking for, but God will take care of us always. Just like the royal official from the gospel reading today - when he asked Jesus to heal his son, he didn’t have any doubts. After Jesus said to him that his son will live, the royal official didn’t say to Jesus - thank you but let me go home and check. No. We read that “the man believed what Jesus said to him and left.” He believed that everything would be OK. He had no doubts in the power of prayer and no doubts in Jesus. He didn’t have to have the proof right away; he expressed a total trust and faith in Jesus’ words. When you pray, when you come to Jesus, always tell Him that you trust Him, that you have faith, and that He will take care of you.
