Monday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

We have already received so much proof the Jesus is the Son of God who came here to us to save us from sin and death. We have the scriptures, we have the testimony of those who were close to Jesus, of those who witnessed His miracles, His preaching, His resurrection and ascension into Heaven. We also have all those saints who gave up their lives for the faith in Jesus and those who lived according to Jesus’ teachings. But even that won’t convince some of those who still don’t believe in Jesus. They may be expecting more proof, or even a sign from heaven, just like those Pharisees in the gospel who “began to argue with Jesus, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him.” But Jesus didn’t give them any more signs. He knew that their hearts wouldn’t change even if they got a special sign from heaven. So, we read that “he left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore.” There is no reason to argue with those who won’t change and with those who only want to test us. Sometimes it is better to leave them and look for those who are willing to listen and believe.
