Monday of the Twenty Fourth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

We all know those words spoken by the centurion from the Gospel reading today. We repeat them right before we come up and receive Holy Communion. “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof. Therefore, I did not consider myself worthy to come to you; but say the word and let my servant be healed.” Jesus was about to enter the house of that centurion to heal one of his slaves when the centurion approached Jesus with great faith and humility. I truly believe that you are the Son of God, I also believe that you can heal my servant, and I am a sinner, unworthy of receiving you, my Lord. This is how I read these words. Before we come to receive the Eucharist, we should approach Jesus with that same faith and humility of the centurion from the Gospel today. Do you believe that you truly receive the Lord in Holy Communion? Do you believe that He is the Son of God and that He can perform miracles in your life? Are you able to admit that you are a sinner and that you need His healing?
