Saturday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

“Jesus summoned the disciples and said,My heart is moved with pity for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will collapse on the way, and some of them have come a great distance.’” By multiplying the little amount of food they had, Jesus was able to feed about four thousand people. Jesus satisfied their spiritual hunger by preaching to them, but He also knew that they needed a physical strength in order to carry His words and bring them to others. And today we are like that crowd when we come to mass. We listen to God’s word and then long to be fed with the Holy Eucharist, the bread from heaven that gives us strength to carry on Jesus’ word and to bring it to others. Then, Jesus “dismissed the crowd and got into the boat with his disciples and came to the region of Dalmanutha.”
