Saturday of the First Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

There are many bad and sinful people in this world, people who have done terrible things. There are people who don’t believe in what we believe and would constantly argue with us regarding our faith and traditions. The easiest way is probably to avoid these people, to stay away from them. Many expected the same from Jesus and they kept asking: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” They wrongly thought that by being surrounded by sinners, Jesus was approving their sinful way of living. How wrong they were! Jesus said: “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Jesus didn’t avoid sinners, and Jesus would never approve any sin. But Jesus used each opportunity to speak the truth, to help people to convert, to leave their sinful way of living, and to become His disciples. We should not run away from those who don’t believe in God, but just like Jesus, we should use each opportunity to bring them to our Lord.
