Saturday of the Fourth Week of Lent ‘c’

John 7:40-53

“So, a division occurred in the crowd because of him. Some of them even wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.” What has changed today? Not much, I think -especially when I read this gospel about a division occurring because of Jesus. Aren’t we divided today because of Jesus? Jesus even prophesied that the division would occur among us, even among the members of one family. Jesus is not trying to make us scared but to make us aware that because of His name, people will be divided about those who believe and follow His teaching and about those who don’t believe and reject Him and His followers. People always will be divided. They were divided back then and they are divided today. Jesus remains the same for now and forever.
