Saturday of the Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

We have different catechetical programs in our church to prepare people to receive the sacraments. We want to make sure that, for example, a child who is receiving Holy Communion for the first time, has at least some understanding and faith that the Eucharist which we consume is the Body and Blood of Christ. Or that the person who wants to be baptized has learned about our faith, traditions, about the bible and liturgy. All of this takes time for learning and preparation. Even Jesus said that “No one patches an old cloak with a piece of unshrunken cloth, for its fullness pulls away from the cloak and the tear gets worse. People do not put new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.” We want everyone who is joining our Catholic faith to be prepared, to understand, and most importantly to grow in faith.
