Solemnity of All Saints

We don’t like to wait. We like to get things done right away, or see the results of our work, our study or exercise right away. And we can get some things sooner than waiting for them. For example, you can buy a new house by taking a mortgage. Most of us would have to save for years before we would be able to buy a house or a new car or other things, but now we can take credit and get them right away. However, there are things in this life that we can’t get it right away. We must spend years studying to finally get rewarded with a diploma and a lucrative career. Or we must exercise frequently, watch our diet and wait to be able to see that weight going down. The same is with our spiritual life. Many of us want to see the results right away, or to be rewarded by God right away for our prayers, for our good deeds, for our sacrifices, for our faith. When we don’t get rewarded for these, we may get impatient or even angry and say: Why did I do all of that, why do I practice my faith? -- I don’t see any changes. To all of us who think that way, Jesus addresses these words: “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.” Be patient, be happy, God sees everything, and He will reward you for your faith in Heaven.
