Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. So, what does it mean that we call Him that? Obviously, it does not mean that we are adding anything to His greatness, because that is impossible. Jesus Christ is the greatest and nothing that we have or even imagine can make Him better. No. However, by calling Him the King, we are accepting the responsibilities of being His servants. And what does the servant do? He or she fulfills the will of the Master. So, here is the will of our King -- to find Him and to recognize Him in the stranger, in the poor, in the sick, in the lonely, in the one imprisoned, and in anyone that needs our help and attention. “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” We are not making Jesus the King by giving Him the title of a King, but by fulfilling His will.
