You don’t see Jesus this angry too often. We read today that “Jesus went up to Jerusalem. He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, as well as the money changers seated there. He made a whip out of cords and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen, and spilled the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables, and to those who sold doves he said, ‘Take these out of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.’” I must tell you that most times reading this story, I was thinking about respecting the church, the holy place, to dress appropriately, to behave, to be quiet, and to respect others who are in there praying. And yes, this is exactly how we should behave in a sacred place. But now I have come to understand that Jesus is not only concerned about the building but about the temple of my body, and your body -- we are the temples of the Holy Spirit. So, the question is: how do I take care of my own body and soul? Is it clean, is it in order, aren’t some unwanted things still in there, that must be removed? Do I respect and take a good care of it? Jesus does not get angry often, but what does make Him very angry is disrespecting the temple, not only the church, but the temple of our body and soul.
