Thursday, memorial of Our Lady of The Rosary

I know some people that would never say ‘no’ if others ask for help. This is a good thing- most times. Most times? Shouldn’t we all be like that and help others when they need us? Of course, we should, but we also need to learn how to say ‘no’. Otherwise, some may take advantage of our good heart or simply ask to help them with things that are not always morally OK. Don’t tell my boss that I cheat at work, don’t tell my spouse I cheated on her or him. Can you help me with my taxes? I need to hide something from them and don’t tell my teacher that I cheated on the test. See? Sometimes we need to say ‘no’ to others’ requests. At times for them and for us a certain request may seem OK or even good, but really, it isn’t. We keep asking God for many things in life. They seem good for us, and we may be convinced that we need them more than anything else. But God, doesn’t listen, why? It is simply because God knows what is best for us, and at times we may not fully understand why He doesn’t grant us what we ask for. But there will be a day when you and I will understand. “If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”
