Thursday of the Third Week of Advent ‘c’

We all know the expression ‘too good to be true’. We often say this when something good happens to us, or to our relatives, or when we receive a special blessing from our God. ‘It is hard to believe, “It is hard to believe, “this is too good to be true’. But God continues to shower us with His blessings and graces. Yet because we think it might be ‘too good to be true’ we doubt it or we simply don’t recognize God’s hand in it. When the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would become the Mother of God, she probably thought to herself: ‘this is too good to be true’, and when the angel told Joseph in his dream that he would become the earthly father of God, he probably thought to himself: ‘this is too good to be true’. And today, the same thoughts come to Zachariah when Gabriel told Him that despite their old age, he and his wife Elizabeth will have a son. For God, nothing is impossible. That’s why next time you receive a special blessing, when something wonderful happens in your life, don’t doubt, but thank God for what He has done to you.
