I am a priest and a pastor. I say Mass every day, I pray the rosary, I recite my prayers and try to give a good example of being a Christian. I think that because of all of my religious practices I am close to God, close to the Lord. But today I learned that I can’t get close to the Lord by my own practices or sacrifices, but simply by the grace of God. Jesus said: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day.” We like to take credit for being religious, for having the faith, but without God’s blessings we wouldn’t be able to do anything. We can only come to God if He allows us to do so and gives us enough graces for that.
