“Jesus began to reproach the towns where most of his mighty deeds had been done, since they had not repented. ‘Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!’” Woe to them! How could they not repent? How blind they were! Well, it is easy to judge them that way. But how about us today? Many wonderful and mighty deeds have been done by God in our midst and still, so many people don’t recognize them, and do not repent. We are so blessed to have God with us, to have the Eucharist available each day, to have the sacraments, sacrament of forgiveness. We are blessed to have a community in which we can pray, worship, and support each other. We are blessed to be Christians. However, many people still don’t take advantage of these great gifts. Some come to Mass once a year, some don’t come at all. We often forget that there are places on this planet where Christians wait for the Eucharist for years, or are being persecuted and even killed for practicing their faith in Jesus. ‘Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!’- but how about us?
