Tuesday of the First Week in Ordinary time ‘c’

It always amazes me how firm and yet brief Jesus was while dealing with evil spirits. Even today we hear how the man who was possessed tried to get into some kind of conversation with Jesus, but Jesus didn’t fall into that trap. Instead, He said to the evil spirit: “Quiet!  Come out of him!” There is no single person on this planet that hasn’t been tempted by Satan. We know we have been tempted in the past and we will be tempted in the future. And the temptation generally appears like something insignificant or even innocent. Evil always will try to manipulate us like that and try to convince us that ‘it is nothing wrong’, or ‘no one would notice’ or ‘everybody does it’. However, if we get into that conversation, then most likely we will lose our battle with the temptation. And if we want to win that battle, we must learn from Jesus how to be very firm and brief when Satan is tempting us. We simply should say ‘be quiet’ and move on.
