Tuesday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

Don’t you get impatient or even a little bit angry because you confess a certain sin you have committed, and you really want to live a good and holy life and totally separate yourself from that sin - but here you are again - ashamed that you have once again committed that sin? I know, it happens to me. However, today Jesus reminds us that no matter what you do, evil and sin will enter your heart one way or another. We all are sinners -- that’s the fact. And yes, we should do everything we can to avoid offending God with our sins. Yet there will be times when we will simply fail in our battle with evil. Just like in the parable about the weeds that grew among the grain. There will be the day of harvest when the weeds will be separated from the grain and then burned. We all try to bear good fruits and live good and holy lives. But Satan will always try to plant some weeds in our hearts. Don’t be surprised because of your sins. Just remember that it grows only partially and will never take over of that beautiful field of grain that you produce. One day that sin will be removed.
