Tuesday of the Twenty Fourth Week in Ordinary Time ‘b’

After Jesus raised from the dead that man (son of a widow), those who witnessed that extraordinary miracle said: “A great prophet has arisen in our midst”, and: “God has visited his people.” I must admit that sometimes I envy those people back then who could talk to Jesus, ask Him for a miracle, listen to His word. I am thinking to myself. If I were there in front of Jesus, what would I ask Him for, what would I tell Him? However, I keep forgetting that ‘God not only visited His people back then’ but God visits us - His people - today. Yes, but in a different form.  He is here present with us - especially in the gift of the Holy Eucharist. So, instead of envying the people of Jesus’ time, I should be thankful that God is here with us today. And in the same way, I can ask Him, I can talk to Him, I can listen to His word and most importantly, I can receive His Body and Blood to become more like Him.
