How easy it is for us to forget that God is always with us. He never abandons us even for a moment. However, there are times when we forget about His presence. And then when we face some tragic situations in life, we look for God and for His help. Recently, I spoke with a young person who came to church to pray for his sick mother who was diagnosed with cancer. He said that for a long time he was away from God, but now He needs His help. This is wonderful, I thought. But why do we only look for God at the most troubling times in our lives? He is with us always, just like He was in that boat with His disciples. He was there when the lake was calm and peaceful, and they forgot about Him. But only when the storm hit them, when they were scared for their lives and were thinking that they were drowning, then they remembered about Jesus’ presence and woke Him up. Let us remember that God is with us all the time -- in those times that are good and in times that are bad.
