Wednesday of the 2 week of Easter ‘b’

What is easier, to do good or to do evil? When you think about it, you would probably say that it is more challenging to do something good and so it is easier to do evil. Why is that? I think it is because evil always appears to be more attractive, it’s more tempting than good and it doesn’t require much on our part. But if you are thinking about something good, then you would find that it is more challenging. Try to say ‘I love you’ to your spouse. or to offer some money to a bagger on the street, or to do grocery shopping for your elder neighbor. Much more difficult, right? This is what we read in the gospel for today: “And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil.” People crucified God because He challenged them. It was easier to get rid of Him instead of being corrected, challenged and asked to convert. Yes, the good is more challenging but also more rewarding. There is no reward for doing evil.
