Wednesday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time ‘c’

Writer's picture: Fr. KrisFr. Kris

There is a natural human reaction to respond to evil with evil, to anger with anger. How others treat us - we treat them the same way in return. And many times, we make excuses for our sinful actions - I did it because everybody does it. However, we Christians can’t keep repeating these sinful behaviors. Jesus teaches us that we must become like a ‘good filter’, that filtrates all the pollution that comes our way, and after it is is purified, we produce in exchange all that is good, holy, and loving. Jesus tells us today that it is not what comes from outside that defiles the person. Rather what comes out of a person is what defiles them. So, what comes out from you? Do you simply reproduce what is sinful, or are you able to filter all that is wrong and sinful and produce only a pure and clean air that others can bread and rejoice in?
