A while ago, I was visiting an older homebound parishioner. She asked for Holy Communion and the sacrament of the sick. I had a very nice conversation with her, during which she never stopped praising God, thanking him for all He did in her life, for all the blessings she received. She ended by saying that she is ready to ‘go home’ to the Lord, because she always tried to live according to God’s commandments, loving Him and loving others. When I read the parables about multiplying God’s talents, I thought of that woman. God used her many talents which she didn’t bury in the ground but instead was able to multiply them. At the end of her life, she had confidence that she did all she could with her life, to glorify God. One day you and I will be asked by God what did we do with the ‘gold coins’ He gave us. Let’s not bury them but share them with others, so they will grow and multiply.
